A Soapmaker in Love With Jesus Christ and His Church
"May the Lord, who is good, grant pardon to everyone who has resolved to seek God, the Lord, the God of his fathers, though he be not clean as holiness requires. "2Chr 30:18-19 Hi. My name is Patricia. I am a soapmaker whose love affair with creating soap began a few years ago. I loved it right off the bat, and decided to do the crazy thing of starting a business. In the meantime I had been studying part-time for my masters degree in theology. I have since graduated from
Holy Apostles College
in Cromwell, Connecticut. For as long as I can remember I have had a real hunger in my life for truth and to know God on more than a casual level. I'll be honest. Sometimes (okay, often) I was not even aware of this hunger. Born Catholic, I took God and the Church for granted. I considered myself a good Catholic. After all, I attended Mass every Sunday and most holy days of obligation. Like a lot of Christians I put all the religion away come Monday morning and didn't take it up again until the following Sunday. God is most patient and merciful. Finally, it was through difficult experiences that I began to look to my faith. It is in suffering that we come face to face with our existential "aloneness" - our neediness and inability to control things: namely events, our health, and people. I was given a great grace: through the Mother of God and the
rosary
I found my way back to God, never realizing at the time that I had left Him. She has led me back to her Son through prayer, Bible study, and frequent reception of the sacraments of Eucharist and confession. That's what Our Lady does - she leads you to her Son.
If someone had told me twenty years ago I would be a soapmaker, running a business, and studying for a masters in theology I would have laughed, "Are you for real?" Yet here I am. I have found such joy and peace in coming to know Jesus that naturally, I want everyone to come to know Him too. So, this web site is a little different from most handcrafted soap web sites: it'll give you some tools to become pure and clean within too. Maybe like me you recognize a hunger within you that nothing can seem to satisfy. Maybe you'll want to learn more. I hope so because your life has a potential to take on a whole new meaning.
